ECIT Foundation’s Work Programme sets out our priorities for 2023 and the run-up to the European elections in 2024. The main item is the Statute on European Citizenship, building on the success we have had with this proposal with the European Parliament and the Conference on the Future of Europe. The 30th anniversary of the Maastricht Treaty on 1 November, which saw the birth of Union citizenship as a legal concept, ought to be the opportunity for an EU response as the main idea for the development of this first transnational citizenship of the modern era. We will be pushing for support from MEPs particularly with the Cross-Party Group and planning meetings with the Commission and government representatives.
