Resources on Public Consultations
Public consultations are posted on the Your Voice in Europe website, to which you will be alerted if you have signed up on the Transparency Register.
The basic approach is described in the Commission’s 2002 Minimum Standards resulting from a White Paper on European Governance, a summary of which can be found on the EUR-Lex website and which has been updated recently and taken up in the Better Regulation initiative.
Some consultations do engage citizens but most receive a limited response because of their technical nature. The standards fall short of the civil dialogue claimed by NGOs under Article 11.
